Facilities and Equipment
Dr. Talmer and our staff at Lake Orion Smiles strive to make your visit to our office pleasant and comfortable. When you first enter our reception room, Cathy, Dawn or Ruth will greet you and help you with your registration, scheduling, insurance and financial concerns.

Our dental hygienists, Marsha and Ann Marie, will help you with dental education, treatment and prevention of gum and periodontal conditions, and help you attain that dazzling white smile, with our in-office whitening system that does not need a light!

Dental assistants Brenda, Tina, Angie and Liz will also help you with dental education, and they assist the doctors and hygienists with providing high quality dental care. Our assistants want to keep your dental visits comfortable and safe. They, as well as our dental hygienists, strive to maintain our instruments, equipment and environment sparkling clean. The dental examination includes necessary x-rays so that a proper diagnosis is made, and appropriate treatment may then be recommended.

Dr. Talmer is pleased to offer our patients digital x-rays, which emit far less radiation than typical x-rays and can be displayed on the computer screens in the treatment rooms for dramatic visualization and interpretation. Dr. Talmer and our staff at Lake Orion Smiles may also utilize our intra-oral cameras to help us visualize dental conditions on the computer screens. This helps greatly in our communications with our patients, as well as with our dental specialists if needed.

For our patient's comfort we also have available nitrous oxide and oxygen analgesia, also known as relaxing gas, which can calm our patients during their treatments. As well, we provide headsets for listening to music, and we have televisions in the treatment rooms and reception room for our patient's enjoyment. If needed, we have pillows to keep our patient's head in comfortable posture and blankets to keep our patients warm if they feel too cool.

For our patient's safety we utilize autoclaves to sterilize our instruments and handpieces, disinfectants for our counters, and disposable covers for our patient chairs, pillows, light handles and switches. We follow CDC guidelines for infection control, so you stay safe. We wear appropriate masks, gloves and eyewear protection, so all will be safe.
